Interview with Dhanashri Kadam, author of ‘I Live for You’

Mumbai based Dhanashri Kadam is a French Professor and Freelance writer. Recently she has won National Level poetry contest organised by Wizkonect.  “I Live for You..”  is her debut novel. In a candid conversation with Susmita Bose, Dhanashri reveals a lot about herself, her journey and her future plans.

Congratulations Dhanashri for the release of your first book “I Live for You…”. Tell us briefly about the story for our readers…

I Live for You.. is a story of Aaditya and Shria who fall in love with each other despite of being in a relationship with two different people. They go against the world to stay together and gradually prove themselves. However, their picture perfect life gets disrupted due to a sudden twist in the tail. I have received maximum compliments for the end of my story and I am really glad for the same!

I Live for You by Dhanashri KadamWhat motivates you to write this particular story?

Breakups and divorces which are so rampant nowadays have certainly motivated me to pen down “I Live for You..” People do not give a second thought and end up their beautiful relationships.  As said many times, “I Live for You..” will work as a prescription for broken hearts. It was very recent that I received a message on facebook from a fan who said that my book is the survivor of her relationship with her husband. I was simply satisfied.

Are the protagonists Shria and Aaditya’s characters based on real people known to you?

Shria and Aaditya’s characters  are not particularly based on two individuals, however they are an amalgamation of various characters in the surrounding. The conversations amongst them are very casual which we, more or less tend to hear every other day.

Destiny played a crucial part in your book…how much do you personally believe in destiny?

Destiny is up to yourself. I think everyone decides their own life path. As for me, I don’t believe in destiny as much as I believe in hardwork.

What is your first love – poetry or novel?

Novel and then poetry.

Any particular book which has influenced your life? What kind of books do you like to read?

I am an avid reader. There is no particular book that has influenced my life. Although I derive inspirations from Shobha De, Sudha Murthy, E L James and Stephenie Meyer.

What interests you other than writing? Tell us something about you…

Language is something I am interested in. I love learning new languages be it Indian or foreign. I am currently a french teacher and freelance translator.

According to you how difficult is the art of writing?

I will share my own experience. When I used to start writing any particular scene for my book, I always used to get stuck if I did not have a flow of the scene. Thus, I used to visualise what I need to put in it, make a rough chart of how the scene has to built up and then writing it made it more easier. However, the answer of this question may vary.

Is there any work of literature especially any fiction novel that you would like to rewrite? If so, why?

Definitely not. It is difficult to understand what the writer has in his mind when he has written a particular book, thus I will not feel it right to rewrite it without having any ideas about his thoughts.

Dhanashri Kadam interviewBeing a debutant writer how was your experience with your publisher?

It is pure fun working with White Feather Publications. We are more like friends rather than a publisher-author kind of relation.

What kind of support you are getting?

Well they answer my calls even at midnight in case I need to know anything!

Tell us briefly about your future plan. Have started planning for your next book?

I haven’t started writing the second book as of now. There are many ideas, thoughts etc in my mind. However, I want to concentrate on “I Live for You..”.

Any message to the Spectralhues readers….

If you have taken birth in this world, leave your mark behind! Believe in yourself and do each thing with zeal and passion!

Thank you Dhanashri for your time. Wish you all the best for your future endeavors.

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
