Chit-chat with Nisha B. Thakur

A freelance copywriter cum screenwriter Nisha B. Thakur lives in Navi Mumbai with her family. She has completed her post graduation in Communication Management. Nisha loves to write poems. Apart from writing she also enjoys cooking, reading novels, watching cinema and surfing the TV. Nisha believes in God, Karma and Karmic connections. ‘First You Plz’ is Nisha’s debut novel.

In conversation with Susmita Bose, Nisha talks about her book, life and ideas…

Congratulations on the release of your debut novel ‘First You Plz’. Tell us what Kind of response you are receiving from readers?

Thank you for your wishes and I am receiving good response from readers. They are liking innocence of my central character Avanti.

What was the inspiration behind this particular story?

The fact that girls and boys before proposing or when they have to confess their feelings they think a lot. They feel their lover should say first..they feel first you plz…first you plz…

Are the incidents narrated here completely fictitious or taken from real life incidents?

Incidents are completely fictitious.

Are the central characters like Avanti, Akash, Rachana and Meenakshi – based on real persons known to you?

Names of the character, Rachana and Meenakshi are my close friends and they also inspire these characters because for me they add a special meaning in life when it comes to friendship.

Who is your favourite character and why?

Meenakshi is my favorite character because she is just like my friend Meenakshi, she is a true friend, someone whom you would always treasure.

How do you come upon with this title? Any interesting story behind it…

I wrote my film script ‘Pehele app’ and circulated it to many production houses, no one showed interest to buy my script. So I decided it to convert into novel and I converted that script title into my book title. Pehele aap became First You Plz.

How do you rate your experience with your publisher?

They are very supportive.

What kind of support you are getting?

They are helping me in every way.

How long it took you to finish the book?

Since story was in place all thanks to my script. I took a year to complete my book.

How much do you believe in Karma? Do you believe our Karma decides our fate?

Yes, I believe in Karma and past life. I feel our several past lives decide our fate and future.

Tell us about the books & authors that have inspired you.

Many books and authors and inspired me across times. But to name one would be The immortals of Meluha as it says with your good deeds and karma you can rise to be good soul.

Tell us something about your future plans? Have you already started planning for your next book?

Future plan is to write for films and recently started brainstorming with myself for my next book.
